Dean was born August 25, 1932 in Dickens County to Albert and Lottie (Shaw) Stewart.  He graduated from Floydada High School.  After graduation, he served in the Army where he would faithfully hitchhike home for the holidays. He married Pattie Babb on January 14, 1959.  They lived in South Plains where they raised their children. He enjoyed the small town community where they made lifelong friends that became family. He ran the gas station in South Plains where he was well known for always taking care of people and his community.  Even after losing his sight, Dean kept his kind heart and care taking spirit. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and spending time with his family, and was proud to be known as “PaDean” to his grand and great-grandchildren.  He was also a longtime member of the South Plains Baptist Church. Dean’s influence on our lives has passed but the memories never will.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wives, Pattie Stewart and Geraldine Stewart, and one great-grandson, Evan Heinrich.
