Sally Grant, age 53 of Lockney, passed away on Friday, September 10, 2021. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 25, 2021 at the First Baptist Church in Lockney. Interment will follow at the Lockney Cemetery. Arrangements are under the personal care of Moore-Rose Funeral Home in Lockney.
Sally was born June 19, 1968 in Lockney to John Mathis Jr. and Esterline (Taplin) Mathis. She attended Lockney High School where she loved playing softball. Most of Sally’s life was spent working as a Residential Coordinator for the Lubbock State School, serving those residents for over 25 years. In her free time, she enjoyed fishing and cruising around town, but her greatest joy came from being with her family and especially her grandchildren. Sally loved being a grandmother and taking care of everyone around her, that was what gave her the most joy in life. She was a member of the New Fellowship Baptist Church in Tulia.
Sally was preceded in death by her parents, John and Esterline Mathis; and one sister, Becky Mathis.
Those left to cherish Sally’s memory are her son Jonathan Grant and his wife Shay of Amarillo; two grandchildren; three brothers, John Mathis III, Earl Mathis and Rex Mathis; and three sisters, Flora Brookins, Lerline Baker and Elizabeth Dean; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
