LINCOLN, NE – More than half of the United States (48 contiguous states) is entrenched in drought, that’s according to the latest USDA/NOAA Drought Monitor.
According to researchers, the effects of this drought are affecting 174 million cropland acres. The Climate Prediction Center’s forecast for this week shows drier-than-normal weather from the Southwest to Great Lakes and from the Ohio Valley to the Southeast. Odds favor wetter-than-normal weather over the Pacific Northwest to the northern Rockies and parts of southern Texas.
Colder-than-normal weather is favored over the East Coast and warmer-than-normal weather over the western and central states, with the warmer-than-normal conditions shifting eastward as the period progresses.
More than 84 Million Americans across 32 States are dealing with Moderate Drought conditions (D1) or worse this week.
