Longhorns squeeze out 1-point win against PCHEA

LOCKNEY — The Lockney Longhorns (10-7) remained determined and held off PCHEA of Amarillo 56-55 on Tuesday night at Longhorn Gym. It was a close game throughout with six points being the widest margin at the end of a quarter when Lockney led 15-9 after the initial stanza.

Senior Austin Rodriguez paced the Longhorns with 17 points, followed by Jonathan Cienfuegos with with 13 and Josh Barretoro’s 11.

The Longhorns have two more non-district games at Bovina this Friday, and a home contest with Smyer next Tuesday. Lockney will start District 4-2A play on Tuesday, January 18 at New Deal.

District 4-2A for boys starts on Friday, January 14. There will be an open date each for one team since the district has five teams. Lockney’s first district game will be Tuesday, January 18 at New Deal.
