County gets rain, hail, no reports of damage

FLOYD COUNTY – If you prayed for rain, it worked… and keep it up.

Parts of Floyd County received a decent rainstorm Thursday night, with some locations reporting nearly and inch and a half of rainfall.

The storms blew in Tuesday evening, and multiple locations reported marble-sized hail. According to the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office there was no report of any damage in the county.

The county received half to an inch and a half of rainfall, with the South Plains community reporting 1.48 inches. The event will not eliminate the drought, as the entire region is now listed in the D4 drought category – exceptional drought.

According to the latest drought map, the area of the state impacted by D4 drought climbed to 23 percent, the highest level in eight years.
