Local Little League teams having success in District 38 action

FLOYD COUNTY – One baseball and three local softball teams have started District 38 Little League tournament play with wins over the weekend at various locations.

MINOR BASEBALL
Ages 8-10 at Slaton
Floydada won their opening round game on Saturday over Abernathy 23-13. This team is comprised of six players from Floydada combined with a trio of players from each Silverton and Valley who play under the Floydada Little League charter. Floydada will face off with New Home in the second round on Monday at 8pm.

JUNIOR SOFTBALL
Ages 12-14 at Abernathy
Floydada and Lockney teams each won their first two games and will now square off in a semifinal matchup on Tuesday evening at 7:00 in Abernathy. Floydada won 3-1 on Friday against Hale Center, then edged Post 10-9 on Saturday. Lockney won their initial game convincingly 29-7 against Slaton on Friday, then received a forfeit from Tahoka on Saturday.

MAJOR SOFTBALL
Ages 10-12 at Idalou
Floydada has won a pair of games over Petersburg 15-5 on Friday, and then edged Post 4-2 on Sunday. Floydada advances to the semifinals on Wednesday at 6pm in Idalou against Abernathy. Abernathy won their first games against Slaton and Idalou. Lockney lost their tourney opener to New Home on Friday, and then lost to Petersburg in an elimination game on Sunday.

MINOR SOFTBALL
Ages 8-10 at Ralls
Floydada was defeated by Tahoka in their first round contest on Saturday morning. Floydada will play again on Monday at 8pm.
