Ora Lee Williams Freeman (Floydada)

Ora Lee Williams Freeman, age 82, of Floydada, passed away Friday, July 15, 2022. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 23, 2022, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Floydada, with Dr. Langston Williams, Jr., officiating. Interment will follow at the Floydada Cemetery. Arrangements are under the personal care of Moore-Rose Funeral Home of Floydada.

Ora Lee Pleasant was born on December 15, 1939, to Ivy Lee and Elijah Pleasant. She was raised in a loving family where she had five siblings. Her sisters were: Rosetta and Velma, and her brothers were: Johnny, Robert, and Jerry.

Ora Lee was known to many as Deena. She was educated in the public school system and graduated from North Ward School in Floydada, Texas. She was a wife and a homemaker. During her free time, she loved playing golf. She was an innovative entrepreneur and very creative in arts and crafts. She enjoyed listening to music, singing, and playing the piano. She was also a phenomenal cook known for her pineapple upside-down cakes. She was well known for volunteering her time in the community, helping the sick, and shut in.

In 1960 she married the love of her life, Don L. Williams, and to this union, one child was born, Maria Donnette Williams. In 1964, her husband passed, and she became a widow. Years later, she met and married John J. Freeman until he preceded her in death in June 2011.

She is preceded in death by her parents: her sisters: Rosetta Pleasant Tillman and Velma Lee Windom; her brothers: Johnny Lee Pleasant, Robert Lee Pleasant, and Jerry Don Pleasant; her husbands, Don L. Williams and John J. Freeman.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter; Maria Donnette Williams of Lubbock, Texas; one granddaughter; Donnetra Williams of Lubbock, Texas; two great-grandchildren; Ahmari Williams and Kyla Williams, both of Lubbock, TX; sister in laws: Earnestine Pleasant of Floydada, Texas; Linda Hearon of Denver, CO; Linda Williams and Margie Williams, both of Lubbock, TX; brother in laws: Louis Williams of Dallas, TX., Billy (Barbara) Williams of Lawton, OK.,  Supt. Langston (T.Darlene) Williams Jr. of San Antonio, TX., Rev. Ronald Freeman of Phoenix, AZ: a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many dear friends.
