PLAINVIEW – The Lockney Lady Horns basketball team made an impressive show at Wayland Baptist University last week by winning the team championship at the Jason Cooper Basketball Camp. Lockney went undefeated in bracket action to take the title at the camp hosted by the head coach of Wayland’s historic Flying Queens basketball program.

“It is really exciting. There is a lot to work with on this team,” said new Lady Horns coach Stephanee Carillo.

Due to UIL rules the new coach couldn’t be on the Lady Horns sideline during a contest, but could visit with them between games to offer advice and encouragement. She says she liked what she saw after each of those visits with the team. “This team is quick to adapt to adjustments during a game. I can already tell how coachable they are.”

Carillo takes over a team that lost only one senior to graduation from a 2022 squad that won 26 games and advanced to the Area round of the playoffs.
