2 dead, 1 injured in crash south of Floydada

UPDATE (9/2 9:00 a.m.) – The people killed in Thursday night’s crash have been identified by Floyd County Sheriff Paul Raissez.

The Sheriff tells the Record 24-year-old Devin Andrews of Mount Vernon was the driver of the 2016 Nissan pickup. Two people from Altus, Oklahoma were inside the black car, a 2016 Cadillac. Driver Prajedis Joel Villarreal was taken University Medical Center in Lubbock in unknown condition. His wife, 34 year old Linda Villarreal, died at the scene.

The Sheriff says witnesses on scene told deputies Andrews ignored the stop sign at the intersection.

ORIGINAL STORY:

FLOYD COUNTY – Two people are dead following a Thursday night crash along U.S. Highway 62 south of Floydada. The crash happened just after 8:30 near the intersection with FM 54 south of Blanco Canyon.

According to preliminary reports, a red pickup truck was pulling off the farm-to-market road when it collided with a black car. One person in each vehicle was killed. No additional details are being released at this time.

Floyd County Sheriff’s Deputies are leading the investigation into the crash, with Floyd County TxDOT crews directing traffic around the scene. Floydada police, EMS and volunteer firefighters are also on scene.
