FLOYDADA – A man wanted for murder out of Missouri turned himself into Floydada Police Chief Reuben Ramon early Wednesday afternoon.

The man flagged Ramon down along Highway 62 south of town and told him “I just murdered my wife,” while walking toward him with a holstered gun. Ramon called Floyd County Sheriff Paul Raissez, who took the man, identified as 48-year-old Keith Bass II, into custody.

Bass is wanted for the murder of his wife in Excelsior Springs, Missouri. Bass told Ramon he found his wife in bed with another man and shot them both. According to KSHB-TV in Kansas City, that man is in critical condition at a Missouri hospital.

Bass was transported to the Hale County Jail in Plainview, and is held on a $1 million bond for first degree murder charge. Floyd County Judge Marty Lucke says Bass waived his extradition and will be transported back to Missouri. Bass’ late model Jeep Cherokee with personalized plates was impounded.

The case remains under investigation.
