Longhorns come up short against West Texas Comanches

LOCKNEY – The Lockney Longhorns had stronger rushing numbers, stronger passing numbers and led the time of possession, but in the end were bested in scoring by the West Texas Comanches Friday night 6-12.

Xavier Jimenez rushed for 169 of the Longhorns’ 176 total rushing yards, and Jonathan Cinefuegos led receiving with 30 yards and the Longhorns lone touchdown. Quarterback Dyllan Thiebaud finished the evening with 76 yards passing with the one touchdown, but also threw an interception late in the game.

The Longhorns also led in one other category, penalties. They received five flags for 25 yards compared to the Comanches four for 40.

The Longhorns have a bye week coming up before opening district play against Crosbyton on October 7.
