FLOYDADA, TX – Ten years ago, the Floydada Economic Development Corporation (FEDC) invested in computers to help improve the local workforce through the Floydada Technology Center.

While those machines were used extensively in the past, very little work has occurred at the Center in the last five years, which is why the EDC Board voted recently to donate the desktop computers to a technology class at Floydada Collegiate High School (FCHS).

Ryan Crowe, FEDC Executive Director, explains that most of the PC (Windows-based) machines have outlived their usefulness and are running operating systems no longer supported by Microsoft.

The plan is for students in the technology class to learn how to disassemble and upgrade old desktops, which the EDC Board voted unanimously to support (with one abstention, Roger Hughes).
