Joy Guest (Lubbock)

Joy C. Guest was born September 2, 1934, to parents Orville and Pauline Chitty in Silverton, Texas. She passed into the presence of the Lord on November 19, 2022, after a full and wonderful life. A funeral service was held Tuesday, November 22, 2022, at Agape Funeral Chapel in Lubbock.

Joy is survived by her sister Laquetta Schott from Silverton, Texas, and sister-in-law Vicky Chitty from Sealey, Texas. She leaves a legacy of two children, Beth Cowart (Dr. Michael Cowart) of Plano, Texas, and Jaine Guest of Lubbock, four grandchildren, Matthew Cowart, Nathan Cowart, Sarah Cowart, and Brook Olinger (Adam Olinger), as well as two great-grandchildren, Ethan Cowart and Baby Luke Olinger.

Joy was very involved in agriculture, working for ASCS for 30 years, two of which were served in Washington, D.C. Besides the love of her family, she loved scratch-off tickets and sports, constantly following Texas Tech, the Dallas Cowboys, and the Kansas City Chiefs. She loved beating her grandchildren at Gin Rummy and bragging about how incredible they were to anyone who would listen. Thank you to Marisela, The Adam’s House, and UMC for their loving care. Joy was deeply loved and honored by her family and friends.

She is celebrating now with her husband of 50 years, Olyn Clay “Dick” Guest, whom she lived with in Floydada and Lubbock, her mother and daddy, her brother Troy Chitty, and her brother-in-law John Schott. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your local church or charity.
