Floydada Whirlwinds Make Noise at New Home Classic

NEW HOME, TX- The Floydada Whirlwinds battled in the New Home Classic Tournament over the weekend, coming away with an impressive 4-1 record.

Floydada matched up against Littlefield for the first round, defeating the Wildcats 80-67.

The Winds found themselves against Pampa for their second game, coming out with a dominating 86-54 win over the Harvesters.

On Friday, the Whirlwinds faced the Wall Hawks, and won convincingly, 70-55.

On Saturday, Floydada had their first game against Da Vinci El Paso, and a stunning come from behind win had the Whirlwinds moving on in the tournament as they won in overtime, 78-69.

They then matched up against Abernathy, and the Antelopes would hand the Whirlwinds their first loss not only in the tournament but in the season.

The Antelopes won the game 69-59 over the Winds, and Floydada is now 9-1 on the season.

Floydada’s sophomore Braun Hobbs was selected to the All-Tournament Team, and senior Abran Castillo was the MVP of the tournament.

Floydada will look to defend home court on Tuesday as they rematch Littlefield in a non-district game.
