Whirlwinds Tested in Close Games at Childress Tournaments

CHILDRESS, TX – The #17 Floydada Whirlwinds are preparing for district action as they participate in the Childress tournament.

Their first matchup was against the #12-ranked 3A Wichita Falls City View.

The two teams battled closely throughout the first half, with the Whirlwinds ahead going into the third quarter, 34-33.

Both teams continued the back-and-forth contest and would end up having to decide the game through an overtime period, where the Mustangs would pull out the victory, 69-65.

The second game for the Whirlwinds was against the Gruver Greyhounds.

Floydada found themselves behind the Greyhounds going into the locker rooms at halftime, 27-21.

The Winds would come out of the half and score 26 points in the third quarter to take the lead going into the fourth quarter, 47-42.

Gruver would tie the game in the final quarter and take the game to overtime, where the Greyhounds would seal the victory over the Whirlwinds 56-55.
