A Memorial Service will be at 3:00 p.m., Friday, January 20, 2023, at the Floyd County Memorial Park in Floydada. Cremation arrangements are under the personal care of Moore-Rose Funeral Home of Floydada.

Born Stanley Carr Burleson on August 3, 1937, in Floydada to W.E. and Mollie Burleson. He was nicknamed “Teen” because of his tiny size. He attended Panhandle A&M College in Goodwell, Oklahoma, where he met the love of his life. He married Lou Jean Belew on November 28, 1958. He lived his entire life in Floyd and Motley counties farming until the mid-90s in the Cedar Hill community. He was a lifelong rancher and continued to ranch off the Caprock until his death. He loved cattle and his heritage, continuing to raise the Spotted Hereford breed developed by his father and grandfather. In 2000, he accepted an award from the Texas Commissioner of Agriculture for the family’s ranch remaining under the same ownership for 100 years.

Following the death of his son Dusty in 1983, he and his family began hosting the Burleson Memorial Roping at the ranch near Flomot, with the proceeds being sent to Clarendon College Ranch Management program in Dusty’s memory. Much local youth honed their horsemanship skills at the playdays and roping for 20 years.

Teen loved watching steer ropings with his sidekick, Fish Wilson. He was made an honorary member of the Invitational Steer Ropers Association and was the last living Honorary Member of the Happy Rodeo Association.

Teen was preceded in death by his parents, W.E. and Mollie Burleson, his wife, Lou Jean Burleson, and his son, David Erin “Dusty” Burleson.

He is survived by his daughters; Carrla Jean Jones (Steve) and Beverly Sue Brock (Kirk) all of Levelland, his grandchildren; Kolt Brock, Kwail Brock and Klay Brock all of Lubbock and Tye Jones (Julie) of Spring, TX, Caycee Jones Taylor (Matt) and Cyanne Jones of Lubbock, his great-grandchildren; Brittan Brock, Sterling, Lyncoln and Brock Taylor, Elodie and Harrison Jones and his sister Marisue Burleson Potts.
