Icy trees in Floyd County (FCR Photo)

FLOYD COUNTY, TX – Slick roads greeted drivers across the county on Monday as Winter Storm Mara brought the first of possibly three freezing precipitation events for this week.

The Floyd County Sheriff’s Office reported no accidents due to road conditions; by mid-afternoon, most of the ice on the roads and sidewalks had melted.

Unfortunately, there may be more ice to deal with this week.

Flip-FM weather meteorologist Dan Holiday says we can expect freezing rain over the next 48 hours, possibly mixed with snow. However, the more significant threat of icy conditions will be east of here, stretching towards the Metroplex.
