FLOYDADA, TX – The Floydada City Council condemned two properties during Tuesday night’s regular monthly meeting.

One at 612 W. Virginia St., belonging to Caroline Arizpe, and a second at 629 E. Georgia St. belonging to Ray Nichols, will move to the next phase. A third property originally slated to join the others found a new lease on life. Ponfeuiro G. Garza told the Council that he plans to pay the back taxes and begin the remodeling process at 403 E Jackson St. before the next Council meeting in April. If not, that property will also be condemned.

Members elected by the residents of Floydada also voiced their displeasure with a proposed electrical rate increase by Southwestern Public Service. They voted to deny the request by the regional utility.

Finally, the Council voted to accept the previous month’s minutes and to pay the bills before adjourning.
