Floydada Whirlwinds host the New Deal Lions in a district game on March 17, 2023
OLTON, TX – The Floydada Whirlwinds (3-11, 0-3) battled the Olton Mustangs in district action on Tuesday.
The Whirlwinds would start the game with a nine run first inning, including a grand slam from Izaih Alvarado.
Olton would score five in the bottom of the second to cut the Whirlwinds’ lead to 9-5.
In the top of the third inning, the Whirlwinds scored six runs to extend their lead back out to 15-5.
The Olton Mustangs were able to mount a comeback, and in the bottom of the seventh inning, they would tie the game at 15-15.
The game would resume on Wednesday due to no lights at the Olton Baseball Field.
The Mustangs were able to score the game winning run in the eighth inning to secure the victory 16-15 over the Whirlwinds.
