Lady Winds Matched Up Against Sanford Fritch in Area Playoffs

AMARILLO, TX – The Floydada Lady Winds played the Sanford Fritch Lady Eagles in the second round of the playoffs.

Game one took place on Friday, with the Lady Winds as the home team.

The Lady Eagles started the game with two runs in the first inning, but the Lady Winds were able to respond with three to take the lead 3-2.

Floydada would go up 10-4 after three innings.

Sanford Fritch had a six run fourth inning to tie the game at 10-10.

The Lady Eagles would take the lead 13-12 in the top of the sixth inning, but the Lady Winds would score one in the bottom half of the inning to tie the game at 13-13.

In the bottom of the seventh, Floydada’s Alli Hernandez would hit the walk-off single to score the game-winning run and secure game one.

Game two took place on Saturday, and the Lady Eagles were the home team.

Sanford Fritch had the lead, 3-2, after three innings.

The Lady Eagles’ offense was able to propel them to a 12-6 victory in game two to even the series and force a game three.

In game three of the Area playoffs, the Lady Winds were the away team.

Sanford Fritch would once again start the game with the lead in the bottom of the first, taking a 4-0 lead.

Floydada would respond to tie the game in the second at 4-4.

In the top of the third inning, the Lady Winds scored one run to take a 5-4 lead.

In the sixth inning, Floydada scored two runs to extend their lead, but the Lady Eagles were able to rally for five runs to secure the victory, 9-7.
