FLOYDADA, TX – As two students walked the stage at graduation last night, not only were they capping the end of their high school careers, but they were also becoming the first graduates of the Floydada Collegiate High School program that helps students gain a college degree.

Lailah Burks and Devin Reyes officially graduated from South Plains College earlier in the month as part of a program initiated by the district to offer students the opportunity to attain an Associate degree and be halfway to a Bachelor’s degree while still in high school and at no additional cost.

Burks also addressed the other 44 graduates as the Valedictorian of the Class of 2023 moments after Reyes spoke as the school’s Salutatorian.
