FLOYDADA, TX – The Floydada City Council will hold its regular meeting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, August 18, 2026, in the Council Chambers at Floydada City Hall, located at 114 W. Virginia St.
The meeting will begin with an invocation, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance and Texas Pledge. Citizens will also have an opportunity to address the council during the public forum.
Among the items on the agenda is a discussion and possible action regarding a Hot Funds request from the Floydada Whirlwinds Booster Club.
The council will also consider a Planning and Zoning Committee recommendation concerning a variance request from Rudy and Ruben Mendoza for property located at 920 South 3rd Street.
Another agenda item will involve the possible appointment of Ryan Crowe to the Board of Directors for the Floydada Economic Development Corporation.
The council is also scheduled to consider Resolution No. 26-7, which would approve a negotiated settlement between the executive committee of cities served by Atmos West Texas and Atmos Energy Corp., West Texas Division, regarding the company’s Rate Review Mechanism filing.
Council members will consider creating a new checking account at First Texas National Bank for the purpose of holding funds related to the collection of a Water/Sewer Improvements Fee, which would be assessed at a later date.
The council is scheduled to enter executive session under the Texas Open Meetings Act to consult with the City Attorney under Sections 551.071 and 551.074 of the Texas Government Code. Following the executive session, the council may take action regarding matters discussed with the City Attorney.
Additional business includes approval of the minutes from the July 14, 2026 regular meeting, as well as a review of cash balances and investments and approval of July 2026 transfers, fixed expenses and city bills.
The meeting will conclude with adjournment.
