Lockney honors Veterans with Drive-by Parade

LOCKNEY – The community of Lockney came together Wednesday evening in a show of support and appreciation for their veterans.

Unable to honor the community’s veterans in the format of year’s past, the LISD created a dedication to the veterans on their Facebook page. But for some, that just wasn’t enough.

A parade was conceived. The word spread through the area. At 5:15 pm the Lockney Firetruck pulled into place on Mainstreet–the head of the parade. The line of cars drove past Veterans Park where local veterans and their families had gathered to wave and greet the parade supporters.

Flags flew. Car horns honked. Buses revved up. Tears were shed. Hugs were shared.

In a time of restrictions and limitations, Lockney’s parade showed its valuable citizens appreciation and honor for their many sacrifices for our freedoms.
