ACUFF — The FCJH Lady Winds highlighted Floydada teams running in the Roosevelt Cross Country Meet on Tuesday. They won the junior high girls team title at the meet. Floydada had three girls finish in the top five individually led by Lillie Lucio taking second place with a time of 14:40 in the two-mile race. Kaitlyn Lopez was next by taking third place in 14:41; and Maddison Pyle ran a 15:07 for fifth place.

The remainder of the FCJH girls team included Kyra Segura, Mekayla Fipps, Ana Saldana, Ivana Gonzales, Tavianne Bullock, Sofia Casteneda and Brooklyn Falcon. The top four times count toward the team points and the fifth runner is a tie-breaker when necessary.

Brownfield won the junior high boys team championship. Floydada had two top ten finishers. Ivan Baltieera took sixth place in 13:04. James Zepeda was in eighth with a time of 13:15. Other FCJH runners were Martin Ramirez and John Taylor Snowden.

High School boys and girls at Roosevelt

Brownfield won the high school girls division, and the host Roosevelt won the boys high school title.

Faith Lopez was Floydada’s highest placing girl at 12th place with a time 15:31. Floydada had two other runners close behind with Allyson Romero in 15:34 and Kirsten Pyle in 15:50. Other Lady Winds competing were Miya Fipps, Maddison Fipps, Desiree Delafuente, Janeisi Garza, Mia Snowden and Callie Brittain.

Brae Ballesteros had the best time of Whirlwind competitors of 25:12 in the three-mile race for boys. Also running were Peyton Anderson and Reese Hinsley.

When Floydada last ran at the WTAMU Twilight Race, Reese Hinsley and Miya Fipps were the top finishers for the FCHS boys and girls respectively. Ironically both were injured in their races at Roosevelt and did not finish the race. Both are hoped to be available this coming Saturday when Floydada runs in Plainview at Kidsville in the Runninng Water Draw Regional Park.
