FLOYDADA — The Floydada Collegiate Independent School District Board of Trustees will meet on Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. for their regular meeting. On the agenda are items to approve spending on renovations to Watson Field and new smart boards for the elementary school.

The new smart boards, if approved, would be purchased using coronavirus relief funds, or ESSER funds. The boards would cost around $4,000 each and would replace approximately 30 existing boards, which the district says are incompatible with current technology.

The school board will consider approving renovations to the baseball field. The description of this item on the meeting agenda reads as follows:

“As part of the bond, we designated $250,000 to go toward the baseball field renovations. We will actually have $494,012.66 to apply toward those renovations. We had previously discussed using some fund balance to turf the baseball field. We received information from Craig last week that it would take about $1.5 million to turf the baseball field and redo the backstop/netting. It would take about a million of our fund balance to complete this project. I designated $3 million of or fund balance toward buildings/equipment/grounds/property. We will also be putting a million back into fund balance from the 2020-2021 budget. I will ask the City to support this project by building a new fence, dugouts, and to upgrade the lighting.”

Other items on the agenda include appointing a law firm and committee to handle the district’s decennial redistricting, a resolution to participate in ESC 19 Allied States Purchasing Cooperative, and recognition of students and educators of the month.
