FLOYDADA — More than 100 pairs of eyeglasses will get a second chance at life, thanks to the Floydada Lions Club. The club presented 112 pairs to Lions District 2-T2 Governor Ron Miller during their regular meeting on Tuesday.
According to the World Health Organization, around 120 million people worldwide struggle with impaired vision due to uncorrected far- and nearsightedness. As one of their main service initiatives, Lions collect eyeglasses and distribute them to those around the world that need them.

These glasses, collected by the Floydada club over the past few years, will now travel to the Lions Eyeglass Recycling Center in Midland to be cleaned, sorted and packaged for those in need. Pairs that are broken or unusable will be recycled.
During the meeting, Miller delivered an update on Lions initiatives in the district. Also present was Wendell Dunlap of the Plainview Lions Club.
To donate eyeglasses to the Lions Recycle for Sight program, simply drop them off in the collection box at the Chappell-Long Building or at Script Printing & Office Supply, or give them to any member of the Lions Club.
