FLOYDADA — One property was condemned and several others were granted zoning variances when the Floydada City Council met on Tuesday evening.

Floydada Police Chief Reuben Ramon said that the property at 625 E. Kentucky St. was uninhabitable and recommended that the council condemn it. The council did so on a unanimous vote.

Also on the agenda was a condemnation vote for 623 E. Kentucky St., but Ramon said that upon further inspection, this property did not meet the requirements for condemnation.

Two variances were granted as well; one for a carport at 714 W. Georgia St. that would extend all the way to the property line instead of the required five feet back, and another for a manufactured home that will be placed at 301 W. Virginia St., in an area not zoned for that type of structure.

A third variance was on the agenda for the construction of a metal building at 319 W. Houston St., but the council determined that that property was already properly zoned and that no variance was required.

Councilmember Steve Lloyd was not present.
