FLOYD COUNTY — Both of Floyd County’s city hall lobbies are once again closed to visitors, thanks to a surge in COVID-19 cases across the area.

Floydada City Hall and Lockney City Hall both had signs on their front doors Tuesday afternoon informing citizens that the lobbies of the buildings are closed to the public due to rising COVID numbers. Both offices will continue to serve customers via their drive-thru windows.

Additionally, Lockney’s notice indicated that the city is requiring masks for anyone who does need to enter the building.

For over-the-phone business, Lockney City Hall can be contacted at (806) 652-2355. Floydada City Hall’s daytime telephone number is (806) 983-2834 and the city can be reached after hours at (806) 983-6371.

The Floyd County Courthouse was open and operating as usual on Tuesday.

Floyd County has seen a rise in daily new COVID-19 cases since late November including six new cases on Tuesday, according to numbers from the Texas Department of State Health Services. There were an estimated 54 active cases in the county as of Tuesday afternoon, with just a little more than 45 percent of eligible individuals fully vaccinated.
