ATLANTA — The CDC is investigating two separate listeria outbreaks linked to bagged salads, one of which has caused two cases of the disease in Texas.

The salads which caused the Texas illnesses were produced by Dole, and the other outbreak has been linked to salads produced by Fresh Express. Both companies have recalled their affected products.

Brands included in the Dole recall include Ahold, Dole, Kroger, Lidl, Little Salad Bar, Marketside, Naturally Better, Nature’s Promise, and Simply Nature with “best if used by” dates from 11/30/21 through 01/08/22.

Products in the Fresh Express recall are Fresh Express, Bowl & Basket, Giant Eagle, Little Salad Bar, Marketside, O Organics, Signature Farms, Simply Nature, Weis Fresh from the Field, and Wellsley Farms Organic with product codes Z324 through Z350.

The CDC advises that listeria bacteria found in the contaminated salads can cause severe illness and that the affected products should be thrown away or returned to the store.
