FLOYDADA — During their regular January meeting, the Floyd County Commissioners Court will consider a number of items, including a proposal to upgrade the county’s voting machines, a change to personnel policy and a possible burn ban.

The court will hear a presentation from Austin-based Hart InterCivic regarding upgrading the county’s current voting machines to “auditable software and hardware.” Commissioners will then have the opportunity to purchase the upgrade and authorize the county judge to pursue reimbursement from the Texas Secretary of State.

Also on the agenda is discussion on a county burn ban. Commissioners chose not to instate a ban at the Dec. 13 meeting, opting to punt to the January meeting. They will decide whether they want to institute the burn ban now.

Commissioners will also consider a policy that would allow employees to donate their sick leave days to other employees and will hear a proposal to remove shrubs at the county library and courthouse. Additionally, the court will discuss taking bids on a surplus Sheriff’s Office pickup and other items.

The court will also hear about county financial information for the first quarter and receive information on federal American Rescue Plan funds.

A closed session is scheduled towards the end of the meeting to discuss personnel matters.
