Dorothy Jean Kerr, age 89, of Floydada, passed away on January 11, 2022. A Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 15, 2022, at the Pentecostal Christian Center in Floydada, Texas. Arrangements are under the personal care of Moore-Rose Funeral Home in Floydada.
Dorothy Jean Kerr was born on October 17, 1932, in Kaufman, Texas. She moved with her family to Floydada at an early age and was a vital member of the Floydada community. Dorothy graduated high school from North Ward School and received her dietary manager degree from South Plains College. Dorothy worked hard to support her family, sometimes holding two or three jobs at a time. She was a mentor to others to better themselves. Dorothy worked at the Floydada Nursing Home for over 45 years as the Dietary Manager. After her retirement, she continued to cook and bake for her family and the community.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Thelma and Jack Givens; her husband, Odell Kerr, son; Donald Campbell, daughter-in-law, Nellene Campbell, and Annie Campbell; grandsons, Dion Campbell and Ronald Wall.
Dorothy leaves a legacy of love to her family and friends; sons, Kenneth Coleman (Dorothy Jean) of Floydada; Dirk Campbell of Amarillo; daughter, Sherrie Wall (Arthur) of Plainview; 12 grandchildren, and a host of great and great-great-grandchildren.
