Hale Center edges Longhorns with fourth-quarter comeback

LOCKNEY – It was a see-saw battle Friday night at Longhorn Gym with the Hale Center Owls pulling out a narrow 64-63 win over the Lockney Longhorns in District 4-2A play.

Hale Center (11-11, 1-2) outscored Lockney in the first and fourth quarters, while Lockney (11-9, 0-2) held the upper hand in the middle stanzas. Both teams had 16-attempts at the free-throw line in the course of the game, but the Owls outshot the Longhorns 10-7 at the charity stripe which proved to be a big factor in the outcome.

Lockney senior Josh Barretoro was the game’s high scorer with 24. Jonathan Cienfuegos had a good game with 16, plus Max Ramierez made four 3’s for his 12-points.

Hale Center also had a trio to score in double figures led by Trey Coleman with 16, Kristian Ford had 11 and Willy Martinez contributed 10.
