
LOCKNEY – The Lockney Lady Horns (21-6, 2-2) have had a versatile scoring punch all season. In Friday night’s important District 4-2A win over Hale Center 56-49, it was the duo of Adri Villarreal and Gabrielle Cervantes that led the way.
Villarreal pulled off a double-double with 23-points and 11-rebounds, while Cervantes hit five 3’s in scoring 17. Mariah Ascensio was a solid contributor with eight points and nine rebounds.
This was a tight game from the beginning with the scores being tied at end of the first, second, and third quarters. Lockney finally got some separation in the final stanza to outscore Hale Center 18-11 for the important district win.
