LOCKNEY – Lockney’s defense frustrated the Ralls Lady Jackrabbits on Tuesday night at Longhorn Gym in a 33-26 win in District 4-2A action. The win moved the Lady Horns (22-6, 3-2) into a three-way tie for second place in the district standings with the Hale Center Lady Owls and New Deal Lady Lions all with 3-2 records in 4-2A. The Floydada Lady Winds lead the race at 3-1.
Adri Villareal had her second straight double-double with 17-points and 10-steals. It was her third time this season to pull off the double-double.
Lockney’s defense was a big spark in the win with 21-steals and 19-pass deflections. The Lady Horns had six different players make a steal and deflect a Ralls pass. Lockney’s defense prevented Ralls from scoring in the second quarter.
The Lockney girls have won their last two outings in district play. The Lady Horns will play at Floydada on Friday in a rematch of an exciting game on January 11 that the Lady Winds narrowly won 48-47 at Longhorn Gym.
