LOCKNEY – The Lockney Volunteer Fire Department had to deal with flames and the West Texas wind in fighting a house fire in the 600 block of SW 6th Tuesday afternoon.
The fire broke out just after 2:00 p.m., damaging the front of the home and the front of an SUV parked in the driveway.
Lockney VFD Firefighters were able to keep a small grass fire that started from the blaze contained to the yard surrounding the home.
There were no injuries reported, but some people on the scene were checked out for smoke inhalation.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
