ENNIS – They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, and without question a new play about a country radio station in Floydada with a comedic tagline is quite flattering.

Bill Rhoten, playwright and owner of Theatre Rocks! in the Dallas-area town of Ennis has a family connection to Floydada, his mother and aunt are graduates of Floydada High School and he has visited the community on many occasions. Now he’s putting the stories he’s heard and at least one song that his aunt Kay Calloway Newton wrote and still performs at her dance hall in Woodrow into the play ‘KFLU Floydada: Country that’s Contagious’

Bill sat down with us via phone to talk about the play and his love for our little corner of West Texas. ON THE RECORD: Bill Rhoten and ‘KFLU’
