FLOYD COUNTY – The Floydada Lady Winds and the Lockney Lady Horns both endured the cold and wind by grabbing wins in tournament play on Thursday.
Floydada (7-0) actually ended in a tie with the Abernathy Lady Lopes of 4-4 in the first day of the Tahoka Tournament. Games were played with one hour time limits due to adverse weather conditions. Since this is a bracket tournament, Floydada won the coin flip to advance to the winners side of the bracket to await either Littlefield, Ralls or Denver City. They are scheduled to play Friday at 5:45pm. The Lady Winds were originally scheduled to play in the Archer County Classic, but the tournament in the Wichita Falls area was cancelled because of wintry weather conditions.
Lockney (3-0) won two games on Thursday in the Lockney Tournament against the Crosbyton Chiefettes 13-1 and the Memphis Lady Cyclones 17-3.
The Floydada Whirlwinds (0-1) did not play their two scheduled games against against the Stamford Bulldogs and Coahoma Bulldogs in the Post Bold Gold Tourney. The Whirlwinds intend on playing a pair of games on Friday against the Merkel Badgers and O’Donnell Screamin’ Eagles.
