TAHOKA – The Floydada Lady Winds and all of the teams playing in the Tahoka Softball Tournament are dealing with more than just their opponents – they are playing in frigid conditions with chill factors in the 20’s.

In Friday’s Semifinal game, Floydada capitalized on four Littlefield wild pitches, a walk and a hit batter in the first inning while the Lady Winds bats unthawed. Once warmed up, Floydada got a two RBI triple from Marissa Obregon, a two RBI double by Kaley Garza, an RBI single by Kailee Sanchez, and pair of doubles by Carissa Fernandez and Erin Trevino that led to eventual scores. The Lady Winds had pushed across seven runs in the first inning.

Pitcher Erin Trevino then took the Lady Winds the rest of the way by throwing a one run one-hitter and striking out five Lady Cat batters to get the win.

Floydada will now play in the Championship game of the Tahoka Tourney against the host Tahoka Lady Bulldogs on Saturday at 5pm. Tahoka has defeated the Levelland JV 8-3 and and Sundown 15-0 on their side of the bracket. Floydada and Tahoka have played each once this season with Lady Winds outscoring the Lady Bulldogs 14-11 in the opening game of the Slaton Sadler Monument Tournament on February 17.
