TAHOKA – The Floydada Lady Winds (8-0-1) scored two runs in the fourth inning for a comeback win over the Tahoka Lady Bulldogs 7-6 in the Championship game of the Tahoka Softball Tournament late Saturday afternoon.
In the fourth frame, Soriah Wickware had a leadoff single followed by stealing second and third bases before Clari Delafuente slapped a two-out RBI single to score Wickware. Delafuente then came around to score the winning run after two Tahoka errors that moved her around the base-paths.
In the third inning Floydada scored three runs off a two RBI homerun by Erin Trevino to left field and Marissa Obregon had a RBI double that scored Delafuente who slapped a double in the prior at-bat. The three runs tied the game at 5-5 after the Lady Winds were trailing 5-2 to start the third inning.
Tahoka’s production was highlighted by Garcia hitting a homerun while three players each had a double (Rose, DeLeon, and Taylor)
Erin Trevino picked up the pitching win by allowing six runs on five hits, three walks and had five strikeouts.
This was the second close encounter that Floydada has had with Tahoka in softball this season. The Lady Winds outscored the Lady Bulldogs 14-11 in the Slaton Sadler Monument Tourney.
