Snowden, Lindley win Lighthouse youth tour speech contest

FLOYDADA – Lighthouse Electric Cooperative held their annual Youth Tour speech contest on Saturday, February 26, with Floydada’s Sierra Snowden and Memphis’ Sarah Lindley taking the top two spots.

Snowden and Lindley each receive $1,500 in scholarship money and an all-expense-paid trip to Washington D.C. in June.

Hunter Thompson of Hale Center was first alternate and will receive $1,000. Second alternate is Elenna Foster of Floydada.

The students spoke on the topic “If I could change one thing about my school or community, what would it be and why?” in a 5-8 minute speech.
