FLOYDADA – The Floydada Lady Winds appeared to be on a mission in run-ruling the Abernathy Lady Lopes 14-3 on a beautiful Tuesday afternoon at Lady Winds Field on Whirlwind Way. The Lady Winds (9-0-1) apparently wanted redemption against Abernathy that tied them 4-4 in the Tahoka Tournament in frigid conditions last Thursday.
Floydada played a complete game by pounding out 15-hits, the defense stop the Lady Lopes of three-up-three down in three innings, and pitcher Erin Trevino was in the groove with seven strikeouts. It was the most pleasant day of weather that the Lady Winds have had to play in this season, and they took advantage of it.
Floydada got an aggressive start in the bottom of the first inning by scoring five runs off of six hits highlighted by a RBI double by Trevino. The Lady Winds then scored four runs in each the second and third innings to build up a 13-1 lead. Analise Perez hit a pair of doubles in the two frames while four other Lady Winds hit doubles (Clari Delafuente, Marissa Obregon, Carissa Fernandez and Kaley Garza).
Trevino struck out an Abernathy batter in each inning, including two strikeouts in each the third and fifth innings. Trevino did not walk a batter and gave up four hits. For the season, she has 52-strikeouts and allowed just 13-walks.
