Wonderful weather for Whirlwind Relays

FLOYDADA – Seven area schools converged on Charles Tyer Stadium for two exciting days of the Whirlwind Relays. These athletes and fans enjoyed two days of wonderful weather for track and field on both Thursday (Junior High) and Friday (High School) which provided some entertaining competition.

Seven local athletes earned THREE MEDALS each during the two days.
(HS Varsity girls)
Lailah Burks, Floydada wons two silver medals in running legs of the Lady Winds 800 relay and 1600 relays plus a bronze in the 200 meters;
Allison Romero, Floydada was also part of the Lady Winds 800 relay and 1600 relay both winning silver, plus bronze in the pole vault
(8th grade boys)
Brandon Carmona, Floydada took home a gold medal in the 110-hurdles, silver in the 1600 relay and bronze in the 400 relay
Daniel Alvarado, Lockney won three gold in the high jump, long jump and triple jump
(7th grade boys)
James Zepeda, Floydada claimed gold in both the 800 and 1600 runs, silver on the 1600 relay;
Cooper Hinsely, Floydada won gold in the 100 hurdles, silver on the 1600 relay, and bronze on the 400 relay;
(7th grade girls)
Maddison Pyle of Floydada earned gold in the pole vault and a pair of silver medals in the 100-hurdles and long jump

14 local competitors won TWO MEDALS each:

Haven Walker, Lockney won two gold in the shot put and discus
Madisson Johnson, Lockney took silver in the 1600 run and bronze in the 3200 run
Brinley Lefevre, Lockney earned a pair of silver medals in the shot put and discus

Izaiah Alvarado, Floydada claimed gold in the 400 dash and bronze of the 400 relay
Jayson Cooper, Floydada won gold in the long jump and silver in the triple jump

Elena Foster, Floydada took gold on the 400 relay, and silver in the 100 dash
Alyse Mendoza, Floydada claimed gold in the long jump, and silver in the triple jump

Bale Rhyne, Lockney earned gold in the 3200 run, and bronze in the 800 run-ruling
Cage Graves, Lockney won two silver medals in he 110 hurdles and high jump
Leo Mendoza, Floydada took a pair of silver in 400 dash and 1600 relay
Eric Gonzales, Floydada won a silver on the 1600 relay, and bronze in the 200 dash

Ivanna Gonzales, Floydada won a pair of bronze medals in the high jump and 800 relay

Kaitlyn Lopez, Floydada claimed gold in the 400 dash, and silver in the 800 run
Lana Victoria, Lockney took silver in the triple jump, and bronze in the 300-hurdles
