Refugio Garcia (Floydada)
Refugio Garcia, age 61, passed away on Wednesday, February 23, 2022, in Lubbock, Texas. The family will hold a Visitation from 12:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m., Friday, March 4, 2022, at the Moore-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Floydada. Cremation arrangements are under the personal care of Moore-Rose Funeral Home in Floydada.
Refugio was born April 17, 1960, in Floydada, Texas, to Nicolas Garcia and Nicolasa (Rodriquez) Garcia. He worked at the feedlots and loved tending to the horses. Refugio worked at the gins, but more than anything he loved doing woodwork. He made many walking canes with many designs, he made jewelry boxes, jewelry, cigarette boxes and that’s just some of the many things he made. His daily routine was to go drink coffee at Ray Rays with his friends.
He is preceded in death by his father, Nicolas Garcia, and his sister, Mary Ann Garcia.
He is survived by his mother, Nicolasa R. Garcia; four brothers, Domingo Martinez and David Martinez from Colorado, Juan J. Garcia and Martin Garcia from Floydada, five sisters, Cathy Gonzales, Alicia I. Garcia and Elisa Jimenez from Floydada, and Modesta Leal and Angela Vallejo from Plainview; and many nephews and nieces.
