NEW DEAL – The Floydada Lady Winds got off to a good start in the 3-2A softball race by run-ruling the New Deal Lady Lions 14-3 on Tuesday and 15-3 on Saturday. The Lady Winds (16-2-1, 2-0) are now in second place in the district standings behind the Ralls Lady Jackrabbits (13-4, 4-0). Ralls has played one more district series that has Floydada.
New Deal took an early 3-0 lead in the first inning, but Floydada stormed back and score 15-runs over the next four innings. Erin Trevino settled in and kept the Lady Lions in check the rest of the way. Trevino (15-1) allowed three runs off three hits, threw nine strikeouts and did not walk a batter. She now has recoreded 102-K’s on the season.

Kaley Garza had two big innings for Floydada of hitting an inside the park homerun for two RBI in the third inning, then drove in three more runs with a triple in the fourth frame. Garza had a team leading five RBI for the day. Soriah Wickware had her second home run of the series by hitting one out in the second inning for two runs.
Floydada smashed 15 hits for the day, led by Clari Delafuente and Analise Perez going 3-4 each.
