UPDATE 9:15 P.M. – The Floyd County Sheriff’s Office reports service was restored just before 9:00 p.m. Friday night.

UPDATE 4:30 P.M. – An AT&T Spokesperson tells the record the company “completed repairs on the cut previously and have technicians onsite investigating.”

FLOYDADA – For the second time this week AT&T Service in Floyd County has been disrupted for landline and cell phones, greatly impacting Floyd County’s emergency operations.

The Floyd County Sheriff’s Office says 911 calls in the county are being re-routed to neighboring counties during the outage. Police-band radio frequencies are still operational for officers, deputies and ambulance service.

Floydada Police and workers at City Hall ask any residents who have an emergency in the city to contact the city’s after hours line at (806) 983-6371.

The departments have not been given a reason for the outage. On Wednesday the Record was told by a media spokesperson the outage was due to a “third party cutting a fiber line” somewhere in the Lubbock region.
