RALLS – Floydada successfully defended its 4-2A District Tennis Title on Monday on a beautiful day to play tennis. Floydada won first place in three events: Nate Garza in boys singles; girls doubles by sisters Sierra and Mia Snowden; plus the mixed doubles team of Abran Castillo and Jazmin Pacheco.

The Whirlwinds had a trio of second place finishes with Brandon Marques in boys singles; Micheal Rios and Charlie Contreras in boys doubles; and Janeisi Garza in girls singles.

The top two finishers in each event advanced to the Region 1-2A tournament in Canyon on April 11-12. Floydada will have alternates to Region with Aiden Trevino and Braun Hobbs in boys doubles; and Sydni Chesshir in girls singles.

“I am proud of the kids competed and played. We won the championships in all three categories – boys, girls and overall,” said Coach Adam Zepeda. It has been another successful year of FCHS tennis with its 22nd consecutive district championship.
