Ceniceros’ Grand Slam lifts Longhorns over Ralls

LOCKNEY – The Lockney Longhorns (15-6, 8-3) keep finding ways to win. Tuesday night at Longhorn Field it was a grand slam home run by Nathan Ceniceros to ignite a six run second inning to propel Lockney to a tough 7-6 win in district 3-2A baseball play. Ceniceros delivered the game winning hit on a RBI single to leftfield in the sixth inning.

Austin Rodriguez (3-0) got the win on the mound by allowing five runs on four hits and a walk. He had three strikeouts in three innings of work. Joshua Jimenez got the save by throwing the last four innings by giving up one run on two hits and hurled six strikeouts.

Lockney is now one game behind Ralls (14-9, 9-2) in the district standings going into Game 2 on Friday. The winner of this game will be the No. 2 seed, and the loser the No. 3 seed going into the Bi-District playoffs next week. New Deal has now clinched the No. 1 seed. The No. 4 seed is still to be determined between Floydada and Post.
