FLOYD COUNTY – The District 3-2A All-District baseball team for 2022 has a strong representation of
Lockney Longhorns and Floydada Whirlwinds, including Lockney freshman Dyllan Thiebaud selected as
Newcomer of the Year.
Thiebaud was Lockney’s catcher and most winning pitcher with an 8-3 record. Thiebuard led the
Longhorns with a .409 batting average and fired 72-strikeouts while on the mound. He was very versatile athlete that helped keep the Horns in contention in the 3-2A race while senior pitchers Pablo Morales and Josh Jimenez were out of action with injuries for multiple weeks of district play.
Both Lockney and Floydada has four players each named to the First Team All-District. District Champion New Deal grabbed a trio of the Superlative honors that included Harley Patterson, District MVP; Noah Rodriguez, Offensive MVP; and Coaching Staff of the Year. Ralls received a pair of superlatives with Steven Salazar, Pitcher of the Year; and Ryno Garcia, Defensive
MVP.
The New Deal Lions and the Lockney Longhorns both advanced to Region 1-2A Quarterfinals in the playoffs. The Ralls Jackrabbits ended their season at the Area round. Floydada lost to Post in a play-in game for the playoffs.
