Mistie Michelle Lloyd-Reed (Plainview)

Mistie Michelle Lloyd-Reed, 42, of Plainview, passed away On May 14, 2022, from ALS after a short but trying battle. She held tight to her faith and love of God during her battle which made her incredibly strong. A Celebration of Life will be held on May 28, 2022, from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. at Cotton Patch in the backroom.

Mistie was born on November 23, 1979, in Hale Center, Texas. She attended PISD from Kindergarten to high school. She graduated from Plainview High School in 1998 where she was involved in the 4H and French Club. She attended National American University, Southern New Hampshire University, and the University of Missouri in Kansas City where she worked towards her BSN in nursing and business. During her short 42 years, she traveled and spent time in different places. Olton to Springlake, then Littlefield to Plainview, and then to Floydada. She moved from Texas to Missouri and then Minnesota to New Mexico and then back to Texas. She saw all of these as adventures to add to her life.

Mistie worked for a hospice nursing facility, Crossroads, and then on to Walmart for her last several years as an assistant manager in Minnesota and as a team lead in Hobbs, NM. She enjoyed puzzles, quilting, crocheting, and baking exquisite cakes. Mistie had a love for plants. Especially orchids and lilies. Her newest favorite was the Japanese Spider Lily that was planted just a few weeks ago by her Aunt Mary as she watched on. Above all, Mistie loved and cherished her fur babies and spent time with her loved ones.

Mistie is now dancing in Heaven with the angels. Her spirit was so magnetic. People flocked to her and she loved everyone the same. She had a way of making everyone feel like the most important person in the room. She filled everyone’s life with love and laughter. She took everything with such a grace that had to be God-given. She had stated the love and support of her family and friends was what made her battle with ALS bearable. Mistie will be deeply missed.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Jordan Lee Reed, her father and mother; Harold Gatewood and Jeanne Lloyd, brothers: Jason Lloyd and Nathan Gatewood, uncles and aunts; Jim and Mary James and John and Melissa Gatewood, Buster Lloyd, Matt Lloyd, and Ira Lloyd cousins; Japeth, Paulette, Stephanie, Jeremy, and her favorite, Ross, who lovingly nicknamed her “M&M”. Two daughters; Catharine and Cristin, two grandchildren, and one daughter of the heart; Arledea.

Mistie is preceded in death by her mother-in-law; Alice Reed and grandparents; Harold and Carleene Lloyd and John and Anita Gatewood, and Aunts Karen and Carla,  a cousin; Crystal. A plethora of family members and friends welcomed her to the best party she could ever attend.
