Sherry Lee Colston (Floydada)

Sherry Colston, age 78, of Floydada, passed away on June 18, 2022, at her home in Floydada. A memorial graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 23, 2022, at the Floydada Cemetery.  Arrangements are under the personal care of Moore-Rose Funeral Home in Floydada.

Sherry was born June 15, 1944, in Amarillo to Lee Henry and Edith Lilian (McConnell) Dickson.  After graduating from high school, Sherry went on to receive her Bachelor’s Degree and become a schoolteacher.  She worked as a beloved educator with the Floydada ISD for many years, as well as being involved in many programs like 4-H and FFA.  She was also a member of the Texas State Teachers’ Association. Sherry’s interests went far beyond just teaching though, she was an active member of her community.  Sherry was a member of Eastern Star and the Daughters of the American Revolution.  She was also a member of the Floydada Friends and was an active member of the board of the Floyd County Historical Museum.  Sherry was also an active member of the First Baptist Church of Floydada.

Sherry was preceded in death by her parents: Lee and Edith Dickson and her husband:  Billy Don Colston

She is survived by her 2 sons: Ross Colston and Zane Colston, 4 grandchildren: Tommy Colston, Jonathan Lewis, Natalie Archuleta, and David Storm, 3 great-grandchildren: Michael Werdeman II, Anna Archuleta, and Maxwell Lewis and 2 first cousins: Suzanne Meyer,  Lindy Garrison.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Sherry’s memory be made to the Floyd County Historical Museum, PO Box 304, Floydada, Texas 79235.
